Hon. Steve Mahoney Visits the Sarnia-Lambton Safety Partnership:The Safety Partnership recently invited WSIB Chair Steve Mahoney to a meeting here in Sarnia with local members of the Safety Partnership. The Safety Partnership brought Steve up to date on all of the activity that has occured since his last visit four years ago. Steve discussed the WSIB's recent evolvement from Prevention to more of an insurance role. The Prevention aspect of their business has been transferred to the Ministry of Labour. Steve gave us some advice on future plans and we certainly appreciated the time that Steve took to come to Sarnia for this meeting! |
Fall Protection News: A delegation of Safety Partnership representatives made a presentation to the Provincial Labour Management Health and Safety Committee in Mississagua on Wednesday June 1st. Dave Taylor, Blair Allin and Peter Stock presented the local Fall Protection Development Overview to a group of IHSA, Ministry of Labour, WSIB, Contractors, and Building Trades representatives. It was favourably received and with encouragment from the MOL this group endorsed the idea that the Safety Partnership team meet with IHSA, Norcat and MOL to look at how to develop a truly Provincial Standard and Course for Fall Protection. This was a big step forward to reducing the duplication of training and establishing an auditable Fall Protection standard in Ontario! |
